DAM Bench
One, two, three, I’m inspired by your energy

You may not know this but I am a huge fan of benches. There is something pretty obvious to me in them always catching my eyes when I see them and this is the sharing aspect of a bench. Benches are meant to be shared with someone else unlike chairs that most of the time are just for one person. This factor always made bias in the sitting department and therefore a bench fan.
Let me help you picture something, imagine yourself in a gallery trying to admire a bunch of paintings or maybe in a very long narrow and beautiful marble hallway, which sitting object do you picture in them? Was that a bench? If that is the case then great, we think alike!
Let me explain to you why a bench works in these two situations, let’s start with the gallery. Galeries are places where people get together to appreciate art and a good comfy bench with no back support is great because it allows for multiple sitting angles (this is a good quality of benches with no back, let’s say they have no good side) and users. In the case of the narrow hallway, chairs might both obstruct the flow and diminish the overall beauty of marble which a minimalist long and narrow bench would not. Also, it parallel to the hallway adds a bit of symmetry to it which I think further elevates this imaginary place.
After this bench appreciation words and exercise let’s jump in right into the main topic, Creacionha’s second product the DAM Bench. This slick bench is literally inspired by the structures that hold the gates of a water dam and the idea of making something that seems continuous.
Opposite to my normal bench design process I started with the design of the legs, this was due to them being the main feature. Steep angles that merge with the seat were intentionally added to add continuity and a three legged arrangement was incorporated thanks to my fascination with three legged structures and its stability.
After a review of the design I had at that moment, I noticed that this bench needed something more to emit the grand statement that a dam gives which is why the bottom support was added into the design. I think this increases the bulkiness of the design as well as the stability and rigidity which again are attributes of a water dam.

The end result is this beautiful indoor and outdoor bench that could easily be situated everywhere which ended up being more that what I initially expected. To be honest with you there is no better feeling that materializing ideas (designs), the creation of the DAM Bench was no exemption, it felt amazing!
